Attività di ricerca:
Maurizio Catino is Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Social Research at the University of Milan – Bicocca, Italy. He studies sociology of organization with a primary focus on human performance in organizational hazardous systems. His research includes high reliability organizations, human error and organizational accidents, risk and organizations, and organizational myopia. He is the author of From Chernobyl to Linate. Technological Accidents or Organizational Errors? (Mondadori 2006) and Organizational Myopia. Rationality and Foresights Problems in Organizations (il Mulino 2009). He has published several articles on learning from organizational errors and the problem of no blame culture, medical error and defensive medicine, and the logics of inquiry in case of disasters. He his currently working on the role of gatekeepers in financial crises, and on organizational learning from rare events. He is senior policy advisor to the “Italian Parlamentary Commission on Medical Errors”. He is scientific director, research program on “Human error and organizational factors”, Italian Air Force and University of Milan – Bicocca (Italy).
